The Rajkiya
Mahila Snatkottar Mahavidyalay, Banda was established in 1978 by the state
government of Uttar Pradesh as one of the pioneer academies of higher
education. The college is fully devoted to girls’ education and is one of its
kind in the whole district. Situated in a historically rich city, Banda, which
is named after a famous sage, Vamdev, the college provides quality education at
a minimal cost along with a safe and sound environment to urban, semi-urban,
and even rural female students from the adjacent places of the city. The
previous accreditation was accompanied by the NAAC in 2016 with a grade of ‘B’.
Besides academic education, the college is the center of various co-scholastic
activities.
The college
has obtained its affiliation from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. The college
is honored to have highly qualified faculty members selected through the Uttar
Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), Prayagraj. Starting with only 34
students in the arts faculty, the college currently provides a variety of
subject choices to its students. Now the college has two faculties, i.e., Arts
and Science, in which the Arts faculty offers undergraduate courses like
English, Economics, Music Vocal, Music Sitar, Physical Education, Political
Science, Hindi, Sociology, Urdu, Education, History, Home Science and Sanskrit,
along with postgraduate courses like Education, Hindi, History, Home Science,
Sociology, and Urdu. The Science faculty provides undergraduate courses in
Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Zoology. Besides offering these
courses, the college provides research facilities to interested students. In
the co-scholastic domain, the college has three units of NSS and one unit of
ranger. The college is recognized as a study center of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi
Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), Prayagraj. The students enroll in offered courses based on merit, following
government mandated reservation criteria strictly. With a strength of more than
2.6 K students, college has 22 faculty members and 8 non-teaching staff.
In terms of
infrastructure, the college has a seminar hall named ‘Jhalkaribai Sabhagar’,
15 lecture rooms, a music room, well-equipped laboratories, a playground, a gymnasium,
a creche, a girls’ hostel, a canteen, and a well-furnished and rich library. A
complete brochure with essential information about the college is provided with
the application form during admission. The college publishes an annual
magazine, ‘Sursari,’ which is enriched with contributions from teachers, students,
and non-teaching staff. The college runs a stitching center, which provides
free training for interested students. Apart from all these facilities, the
Uttar Pradesh Jal and Shakti Departments have installed a 2200 sq. ft. roof
water harvesting project around 4 km recharge capacity monitored and
coordinated with the Hyderabad sub-station. It is the first project completed in
a government institution of chitrakoot dham region.
The college
has successfully completed its 35 years while contributing to girls’ education.
The college has attained a notable position in the field of education,
contributing to the development of students as responsible citizens of society.
