Annual Report : 2019-20                     

The Government Girls Post Graduate College was established on 15th of August, 1978 by the Uttar Pradesh government. Initially, classes in this college were started with 34 girl students in seven subjects. Today it is moving strongly on its 43rd step. At present, more than 2000 girl students, 12 professors, 05 third class and 12 fourth class employees are working in the college. Currently, teaching is taking place in 13 subjects at the graduate level in the Faculty of Arts and 05 subjects in the Faculty of Science. Postgraduate classes are conducted in six subjects in the Arts group . The college is offering post graduate courses in Hindi and Sociology since 1982.

The college has been granted recognition under Section 2 (F) and 12 (B) of University Grant Commission, New Delhi. Presently, under the National Higher Education Campaign, the up gradation of the basic facilities is going on. The construction of the building has been completed for M.Sc. in Botany and teaching is going to start in the upcoming time. It is the result of continuous progress that this college has been selected as the Center of Excellence for higher education among the 10 government colleges of Uttar Pradesh. The college is determined to achieve the goal of quality in higher education. In this direction, to conduct fair examinations, maintain discipline, run consistent classes and maintain transparency in serious issues like women’s safety, CCTV cameras have been installed in the college, which are monitored from the principal’s room. As a result of the efforts of the diligent and hardworking Principal of the college, Dr. Deepali Gupta, a new phase of creative work has started in the college. At present, she is working as the nodal in-charge of all the colleges of this district.

On the occasion of National Sports Day on 29/08/19, a speech competition was organized in the college on the topic “Olympic Games – Possibilities of India”. On 14/09/19, a symposium was organized on the topic of “Possibilities of Employment” in Hindi. On 02/09/19, a discussion was organized on the importance of magazines in competitive examinations in the context of career related awareness. On 2/10/19, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a speech competition was organized on the topic of  “Gandhi and Our Time” as well as on 03/10/19, self-cleaning was done under the cleanliness campaign. On 10/10/19, a debate competition was organized under SWEEP and the girl students were awarded. Inter-college women’s Kabaddi competition was organized on 12/10/19 in which the then Director of Higher Education Dr. Vandana Sharma was present as the chief guest. Ken Nadi Aarti on 26/11/19, symposium on the topic of “Savings Schemes and their Benefits” on 01/12/19 were conducted. It is a matter of pleasure that in view of the commendable work of the two working units of the National Service Scheme in the college, Bundelkhand University has given recognition to run the third unit and the third unit of NSS has been formed under the direction of Dr. Ankita Tiwari. Before this, the first unit of the NSS was working under the direction of Dr. Sabiha Rahmani and the second unit was working under the direction of Jyoti Mishra. Under their direction, various competitions and symposiums were organized along with the oath taking ceremony on the occasion of National Voters’ Day on 25th January.

Under the direction of Rangers in-charge Dr. Zeba Khan, various awareness related works were performed by rangers students during Covid-19. The entire system of sanitization was operated under her direction. Rangers students not only made masks themselves and distributed them to the local people but also distributed food items door to door. Under her direction, rangoli and slogan competition was organized on the occasion of Voters’ Day.

On the occasion of World Hindi Day on 10/01/2019, Hindi student Shalini Awasthi was given a cash prize of Rs 2000 by the Bank of India. A symposium was also organized on this occasion. Essay writing competition was arranged on the occasion of National Voters’ Day on 25/01/20. Annual sports competitions were conducted between 27 to 29 January 2020 , in which games like pole vault, hurdle race and hammer throw were also included. This year’s sports champion was Poonam Devi. Annual function and prize distribution ceremony was organized on 19/02/20.

Physical and human resources play a mixed role in the development and progress of any organization. Despite limited material resources, it is our endeavor that this college plays an important role in building a knowledgeable society.
