Annual Report 2022-23

Rajkiya Mahila Snatkottar Mahavidyalaya was established on 15th August 1978 by the Uttar Pradesh Government for public welfare at Banda, the holy place of Rishi Bamdev in Bundelkhand region. The academic journey of the college, which started with 07 subjects and 34 students, has currently reached its pinnacle. At present 02 faculties namely Faculty of Arts and Science are running in the college.

Under graduate classes are being conducted in 13 subjects whereas post graduate in 06 subjects in the Faculty of Arts. At present 2432 students are enrolled in the college. There are 17 professors and 04 third grade employees are working in the college. In the Faculty of Arts, classes in Hindi, Sociology, History, Urdu, Home Science and Education are conducted at the postgraduate level. Under the National Higher Education Campaign, the construction work of the building for M.Sc. in Botany has almost been completed and it is expected that postgraduate classes in Botany will be conducted in the coming session.

The college has been granted recognition under Section 2 (f) and 12 (b) of the UGC, New Delhi. It is the result of progressive efforts that this college has been selected as the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for higher education among the 10 government colleges of Uttar Pradesh. The college is determined to achieve the goal of quality in higher education. Moving towards this direction, CCTV cameras have been installed in the college, to conduct cheating free examinations, maintain discipline, run smooth classes, and maintain transparency in serious issues like women’s safety. Monitoring through CCTV cameras was done from the principal’s room.

In the creative development of any institution, the role of the head of that institution is very important, and from this point of view, the college is fortunate that it has a strong and vocal leader and guide as Prof. Deepali Gupta. In view of her academic progress in this session, she has been honoured with the designation of Professor by the government. It is the result of her efficiency and hard work that while walking step by step on the path of progress, Sarojini Naidu Sewing and Embroidery Training Centre, Mother Rasoi Canteen, Mother Teresa Creche, Sucheta Kripalani Ranger Room and especially E-Learning Park and Rani Lakshmibai Gymnasium and Q-Club were established. The result of her tireless efforts is that in this session, a centre of Rajarshi Tandon Open University has been established in the college, whose coordinator is Dr. Sabiha Rahmani.  Like previous year, the district level SVEEP program and National Voter’s Day were celebrated on 25 January 2023 under her leadership in this session too. Under the joint aegis of Bundelkhand University’s National Service Scheme and District Nehru Youth Centre, mega programs of G20 were organized on a large scale in the college under the leadership of Prof. Deepali Gupta. In the same session, she was honoured with Sushma Swaraj Mahila Shakti Samman in conjunction with the Central Committee Women’s Cell. Along with being the principal of the college for the last 04 years, Prof. Deepali Gupta is also handling the charge of Nodal Officer (higher education) very efficiently.

Daughters are our pride. They are the lamp of the college as well as of her family. In the university examination held in the year 2022, Ms. Afsari Begum, a BA final year student has secured first position. Anam Qureshi in B.Sc. final year (Maths) and Yashika Sewalani in B.Sc. final year (Bio) stood first in the college. Priya Namdev in M.A. Hindi, Pratibha Devi and Sadhna Choudhary in Home Science jointly, Priya Jain in Sociology, Preeti Raikwar in Education, Jyoti Awasthi in History got the first position in the college. Tahrima Aziz secured first position in M.A. Urdu in the university. Last year, the girl students (B.A., B.Sc. and M.A.) of our college had made their place among the top 10 students of Bundelkhand University in the annual examination. This year, Ms. Medha Mishra, student of Hindi Department, Ms. Priyanshi Raikwar and Tanya Jain from Sociology department have cleared the UGC NET examination.

It is a matter of great fortune that in this session, an international and national seminar was organized by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) in the college through the Department of Sociology and Hindi Department, whose chief patron was Prof. Deepali Gupta and coordinators were Dr. Sabiha Rahmani and Dr. Shashibhushan Mishra. Talking about the academic and creative achievements of the teachers, in this session Prof. Jitendra Kumar from Physics Department received the designation of Professor. Prof. Jitendra Kumar is well known as a research scientist, got a research project approved by the Higher Education Department of Uttar Pradesh. His research paper has also been published in Scopus Index journal. Based on coordination with all the departments, the compilation and arrangement of departmental and administrative files for NAAC evaluation is being done by Dr. Maya Verma, Head of the Department of Chemistry, as a result of the discussions with all the in-charges, so that the process of NAAC evaluation can be completed as per standard in stipulated time.

 

It is a matter of great joy that like the last session, in this session too, the book of social worker and litterateur Dr. Sabiha Rahmani, head of the Department of Sociology, has been published a book “Meri Mai’’ through Prabhat Publications. Dr. Sabiha Rahmani was also honoured by EXP Global International Organization for the writing and publication of this book. Dr. Sabiha Rahmani was honoured with the Super writer Award by Pratilipi online literary magazine. In the same session, she has also received Sushma Swaraj Mahila Samman by the Central Committee. Hindi Diwas was organized by Dr. Shashibhushan Mishra, Head of the Hindi Department, and renowned critic of Hindi literature, on 14th September 2022 under the chief hospitality of Mr. R.P. Singh, Divisional Commissioner Banda. Chandrapal Kashyap Smriti Kavita Samman was jointly awarded for poetry to Ms. Medha Mishra and Priyanshi Raikwar, students of the Hindi Department. As the convener of the National Seminar, the digital issue of the journal published 92 research papers was released. In the same session, expert professors of the college, Dr. Shashibhushan Mishra, Dr. Jayanti Singh, Dr. Sapna Singh, Mrs. Jyoti Mishra, Dr. Ankita Tiwari, Dr. Vinay Kumar Patel, Dr. Virendra Pratap Chaurasia have successfully completed their refresher program by obtaining A grades from various universities.

 Under the tenth series of entry number given to the Department of Sociology of the college, the book ’75 Years of Independence and Women’ was published by Editor-in-Chief/Patron Prof. Deepali Gupta and Editor-in-Chief Dr. Sabiha Rahmani on the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Road Safety Month was successfully organized by Dr. Vinay Kumar Patel on 05 January-04th February 2023 sponsored by Uttar Pradesh Transport Department. Dr. Vinay Kumar Patel has received training of Master Trainers sponsored by Central Road Research Institute, New Delhi on 05 and 06th January 2023. Dr. Sapna Singh have qualified the online refresher course organized by Allahabad University with A+ grade. She has also participated in the workshop of CSSR Kanpur Centre for the Study of Society and Politics. Participated in the workshop organized by Government Degree College Badaun on NAAC subject. Dr. Jayanti Singh, Head of the Department of Sanskrit, was appointed as Director of Research by Bundelkhand University in the same session. Dr Jayanti singh, Dr. Jaikumar Chaurasia, Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Dr. Sapna Singh and Dr. Astuti Verma played an important role as joint secretaries in international seminar. In this session, Mrs. Jyoti Mishra, Head of the Music Department was selected for research work by Kanpur University. Mr. Jaiprakash Singh, Head of the Department of History and Mrs. Sapna Singh, Head of the Department of Political Science were selected for research work by Bundelkhand University. Mr. Virendra Pratap Chaurasia, Head of the Department of Economics had completed his PhD thesis.

The special achievements of the Home Science Department of the college were commendable. Sewing and embroidery centre was established by Dr. Sudha Tiwari, Dr. Astuti Verma and Ms. Neetu Singh. Vocational programs were organized among the students. An exhibition of nutritious items and recipes prepared with Shri Anna (millets) was also organised. Research papers of Dr. Sudha Tiwari, Dr. Astuti Verma, Ms. Neetu Singh were also published in the college reference book (ISBN) and UGC care listed Journal. Dr. Vinod Singh Chandel, Head of Department of Physical Education, received yoga training organized by UP Rajarshi Tandon University, Prayagraj.  Dr. Mohd. Afzal, Head of the Urdu Department has completed refresher training programme with grade ‘A’ and like last year, a symposium was organized on National Education Day. National Education Day and Urdu Day was celebrated by the Urdu Department every year on 12th November on the birthday of Maulana Azad.

Along with academic excellence, extracurricular activities also remained at their peak on the path of progress of the college. Rangers in-charge Dr. Sapna Singh organized entry Screening Camp, Nipun Screening Camp from 30 January to 03rd  February 2023 in which students were given training in flag etiquette, knot making, first aid, tent construction, bridge construction, cooking without utensils etc. Three girl students of Ranger got first, second and third position in the competition. Srishti stood first, Mantasha Bano stood second and Komal Prajapati stood third.

Under the direction of Dr. Vinod Singh Chandel, in-charge of sports in the college, the sports activities of the college also remained at their best. In this session, our college students were declared the winners in the inter-college Kabaddi competition held at Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. Under the leadership of in-charge sports, Manikanti, Khushboo, Anita, Priyanshi, Riya Shivhare, Poonam, Shivani, Ritu Gupta of the college was selected in the team of BHU Jhansi.

A grand event of the 45th Annual Sports Festival was organized on 15- 17th February 2023, whose chief guests were Dr. Pramod May Sairaha and Dr. Ranjana Sairaha. In this function, Ms. Poonam Devi was champion and Ms. Anita received the title of vice champion.

This college has been appointed as the district nodal of the National Service Scheme of Bandelkhand University, Jhansi and Dr. Sabiha Rahmani has been appointed as the nodal officer. At present three units of National Service Scheme are active in the college. The program officer of the first unit is Dr. Sabiha Rahmani, the program officer of the second unit is Mrs. Jyoti Mishra and the program officer of the third unit is Dr. Ankita Tiwari. In this session, along with general program and one-day camp, a special camp was organized from 21.03.2023 to 27.03.2023 in Dalit colony Dari Mohalla, Bari Mohalla and Ahir Mohalla. Q Club (Youth Friendly Clinic) was established in the college from 2019 under the joint aegis of NSS and SIFPSA. In this session, 14 mental health related workshops were organized under Q Club, which were allotted in 28 colleges of Uttar Pradesh.. These workshops were conducted by Q Club in-charge and Nodal Youth Friendly Clinic Dr. Sabiha Rahmani and Master Trainer Mrs. Jyoti Mishra in the college. Sanitary napkin disposal machine was also installed in the college by SIFSA.

Apart from this, the college represented the national level Har Ghar Tiranga program at the district level under the leadership of Prof. Deepali Gupta and in conjunction with Dr. Sabiha Rahmani. The discussion program on the budget organized by the Central Committee of the Central Government took place on a wide scale which was represented by Sadar MLA Banda and District President BJP Dr. Sanjay Singh.

This is our dynamic effort made with the help of physical and limited human resources, our effort and also our promise that we will continue to play our important role in building a knowledge-rich society for community and national development.

We are not such that our story cannot be written,

One day we will be engraved in golden letters.
