Annual Report: 2021-22

Rajkiya Mahila Snatkottar Mahavidyalaya was established on 15th August 1978 by the Uttar Pradesh Government for public welfare. The journey of the college started with seven subjects and 34 girl students and today it has reached the level where undergraduate classes are being conducted in 13 subjects and post graduate classes are being conducted in 06 subjects. At present, with the enrolment of 2174 students, 17 professors and 06 third grade employees are working in the college. In the Arts Faculty, post graduate classes are being conducted in Hindi, Sociology, History, Urdu, Home Science and Education. M.A. in Hindi and Sociology was running in college since 1982. The construction work of the building for M.Sc in Botany subject has been completed under National Higher Education Campaign and postgraduate classes in Botany subject are expected to start from the coming session.

The college has been granted recognition under Section 2 (f) and 12 (b) of the UGC, New Delhi. It is the result of progressive efforts that this college has been selected as the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for higher education among the 10 government colleges of Uttar Pradesh. The college is determined to achieve the goal of quality in higher education. Moving towards this direction, CCTV cameras have been installed in the college, to conduct cheating free examinations, maintain discipline, run smooth classes, and maintain transparency in serious issues like women’s safety. Monitoring through CCTV cameras was done from the principal’s room.

Good direction plays a big role in the creative development of any organization. In this regard, this college is fortunate that it has got a tireless and efficient guide in the form of Dr. Deepali Gupta. Due to her efforts, Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Auditorium, air-conditioned computer lab and two smart classrooms in the science faculty were inaugurated in the college. This year, the important work of library automation was completed and a cemented road was also constructed between the gate to the main building of the college. Due to her initiative, a canteen has also been started in the college from this session. Along with this, renovation work of principal room, office and gallery was completed. With her initiative, a Wall of Fame has been constructed in the college in which pictures of Param Vir Chakra winning soldiers have been displayed. This Wall of Fame has been made as a selfie point in the college. Due to her efficient leadership and work efficiency, this year she was appointed as Assistant SVEEP Officer by the District Election Officer. Along with this, she has also given responsibility of the nodal in-charge for voting related works of higher education in the district. In her leadership, more than 200 students of the college were participated in the program organized by District Magistrate Banda in JN PG college on National Voters’ Day on 25th January and participated in various programs including voter rally. It is a matter of joy that more than 220 college students have become voters this year. Due to her important contribution, she was honoured by Sanjeevani Bharat Trust and also honoured with Mission Shakti Award by District Magistrate Banda under the ambitious scheme Mission Shakti of Uttar Pradesh Government.

Daughters are our pride and it is our priority to provide them better education and move them forward in a constructive direction. It is a happy occasion that in the annual examination held in the year 2021, B.A. Final year student Jagriti was awarded Shri Mati Chandrakali Saxena Silver Medal by Bundelkhand University for obtaining the highest marks in Music subject. Along with this, Saba Noori, a student of M.A. Final year Urdu, has scored highest marks in Bundelkhand University. Due to the Corona epidemic, the physical classes of students were seriously affected, but online classes were continuously conducted to fill the gap and with the result of this many of our B.A., B.Sc. and M.A. students have secured position in top 10 students of the Bundelkhand University examination. Recently Stuti Sharma, a former student of the college, has qualified the UGC NET exam in English subject.

This session was also memorable because six assistant professors, selected from the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission and appointed in the college. Dr. Vinay Kumar Patel in History, Dr. Mohammad Afzal in Urdu and Mr. Virendra Pratap Chaurasia has joined in Economics. Home Science Department got three assistant professors as Dr. Sudha Tiwari, Dr. Astuti Verma and Ms. Neetu Singh. It is a matter of pride for us that Dr. Rajnarayan ji, a hard-working professor of our college family, has been appointed as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Service Commission after retirement.

While talking about the academic and creative achievements of the teachers, Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Professor of Physics Department, received three awards in this session. ‘Eminent Researcher Award by Indian Institute of Organized Research, Academic Excellence Award on International Day of Education and recently received state level Yashpal Memorial Science Communicator Award. It is a matter of happiness that in the same session, the story collection ‘Kaki Ka Kunba’ by Dr. Sabiha Rahmani, Head of the Department of Sociology and litterateur, was published, which was highly appreciated among the readers. She received the Best Writer Award from Uttar Pradesh Art, Writing and Fashion Academy. She was also awarded the Mission Shakti Mahila Samman of the Uttar Pradesh Government. Dr. Shashibhushan Mishra, assistant professor of Hindi department, delivered his lecture in the Raza ceremony of young writers on 14-15th November 2021 at India International Centre, New Delhi, for which he has received a cash amount of Rs 20 thousand. In the same session, Dr. Jayanti Singh has completed two refresher courses from Gorakhpur University (18th September to 01st October 2021) and from JNU Delhi (22nd November to 04th December 2021). Recently, Mr. Jaiprakash Singh from History Department and Mrs. Sapna Singh from Political Science Department have been selected for PhD in Bundelkhand University. Jai Prakash Singh has obtained the highest marks in this Ph.D. entrance examination conducted by Bundelkhand University.

Hindi Diwas was celebrated by Hindi Department and an effective lecture was delivered by IG of Chitrakoot Dham Mandal, Mr. I.K. Satyanarayan on employment and career related topics. On this occasion, ‘Chandrapal Kashyap Smriti Kavita Samman’ worth Rs 2100 was awarded to the brilliant Hindi student Prachi Mishra. Selected teachers of higher education in Banda district were honoured in the teacher felicitation ceremony by Banda Sadar MLA Shri Prakash Dwivedi and DM Anand Kumar Singh on Teacher’s Day i.e., on 05 September 2021.

During National Nutrition Month (September-2021), the Home Science Department has organized a district level Bundeli nutritious recipe competition, plantation was done in Nutrition Vatika, and conducted an online webinar on 13th September 2021 in which students from various colleges of the district were participated. The Bundeli recipe competition was evaluated by the Joint Magistrate Shri Sudhir Kumar and the District Magistrate Shri Anand Kumar Singh. Along with this, on 06 January 2022, a large exhibition of handicrafts, paintings and nutritious recipes was organized with the joint efforts of the Home Science Department and Chirag Foundation. Various dignitaries of the city were present in this event. A national webinar was organized on 25th august 2021 under Sanskrit Week in supervision of Dr. Jayanti Singh, from Sanskrit Department. Along with this, a dissemination lecture was organized on the topic ‘Different dimensions of career after higher education’ on 07th December 2021 and lecture was delivered by Professor Hariram Mishra from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. On this occasion, Joint Magistrate of Banda, Mr. Sudhir Kumar was present as a special speaker.Under the direction of Dr. Vinay Kumar Patel from History Department, district level competitions were successfully organized in the college on 26th December and divisional level competitions on 08th December under the road safety awareness week organized by the Traffic Department. A symposium was organized on the occasion of National Education Day on 11 November 2021 by Dr. Mohd. Afzal, of Urdu Department, in which Dr. Ayaz Khalil, Assistant Professor of Urdu, Government College, Unnao, was the keynote speaker. Urdu Day was also celebrated on the same day.

Amidst the horrors of Corona, the Rangers students were honoured in the Republic Day ceremony organized on 26 January for the promptness and spirit of service with which they operated many arrangements including sanitization. On this occasion, a speech competition was organized on the topic ‘Challenges before Indian Democracy’ in which Ankita Gupta, Shukla and Medha Mishra was received first, second and third prize. The chief guest of Republic Day function was Shri Anand Kishore Lal who presented a cash prize of Rs 2100 to Saadia, a disciplined and hardworking student of the college.

Under the direction of Rangers in-charge Dr. Sapna Singh, a Rangers camp was organized from 17 to 21st February 2022 in which girl students were given training in flag etiquette, knot tying, first aid, tent construction, bridge construction, cooking without utensils etc. Scout guide Mrs. Smita Dwivedi provided her invaluable support in this training program.

While talking about sports, in Bundelkhand University’s inter-college athletics competition, which was held in Mahoba district on 24-25th December 2021, in hurdle race, Poonam got second position while in Shot Put Throw, Anita and Riya shivhare secured the second and third position, respectively. It is a matter of pride for us that Khushboo, a student of BA first year, has been selected in Kabaddi team of Bundelkhand University she has participated in the inter-university competition at Mandi, Himachal Pradesh in January 2022.

At present, three NSS units are active in the college and various programs were organized by these units throughout the year, which is not possible to be discussed in detail here. A seven-days special camp of NSS is proposed from 6 to 12th March 2022 in which different programs will be organized continuously for seven days.

Physical and human resources play a mixed role in the development and progress of any organization. Despite limited material resources, it is our endeavour that this college plays an important role in building a knowledgeable society.
